Iranian movie ‘The Locust’ has been competing at the Mostra – Sao Paulo International Film Festival in Brazil.
Directed by Faezeh Azizkhani, the 79-minute movie is going on screen at the New Directors Competition section of the Brazilian event.
Produced by Manijeh Hekmat and Mahshid Ahangarani-Farahani, the feature film narrates the story of a writer named Hanieh who loves cinema but is not successful in her career.
She writes a screenplay based on her own life and sells it to her close friend, Pegah, after abandoning the hope of directing her semi-autobiographical screenplay.
Pegah keeps Hanieh around to advise in script meetings and cast rehearsals.
When the screenplay is ready to be read and practiced, the new director and the crew start to criticize and judge the main character of the screenplay but Hanieh can’t take it.
The cast list includes Hanieh Tavassoli, Pegah Ahangarani Farahani, Ali Mosaffa, Pedram Sharifi, Ramin Sediqi, Amaneh Aqarezakashi, Ahmad Azizkhani, Majid Azizkhani, and Dorna Madani.
‘The Locust’ went on screen at the Edinburgh International Film Festival in Scotland, the Split Film Festival in Croatia, and the Vancouver International Film Festival in Canada.
The 46th edition of the Mostra – Sao Paulo has been slated for October 20-November 2, 2022.
